4K patio covers and pergolas

The 4K product line is a relatively new product line for the patio cover and pergola market. Unlike the Alumawood line, the 4K is constructed of extruded aluminum. This is to say the material starts as a solid piece of aluminum as opposed to the roll-formed material which is a flat sheet of aluminum. Besides the material starting off as a solid chunk of aluminum, the material is much stronger and able to span much greater widths than the Alumawood line. What does this mean for you the consumer? It means fewer posts on your patio.

How is the 4K patio cover line finished?

For starters, the 4K’s finish is completely different than Alumawood. Alumawood is painted on much like you’d paint a car. On the other hand, 4K is not painted like this, it’s powder-coated. Powdercoating is a process where the material is first sandblasted, and then paint is applied in powder form. Afterwhich, the powder is baked in an oven at an extremely high temperature. Making for a very strong finish.

How much do 4K Pergolas and Patio Covers cost?

The 4K Aluminum product costs anywhere between$30 to $50 per square foot.  Over the past few months (2022) the 4K Patio cover cost has risen significantly mostly due to the increase in aluminum costs in the last year.  Nevertheless, the product is something that once installed, will never have to be replaced.

Still, the aluminum line is far superior to others.  The appearance of the 4k is a sleek and modern look with no wood grain embossed into the aluminum.
